Lighting play an essential part in making your home like no other. The difference in lighting color affects the mood and generates an ambiance. Warm light is suited for romantic occasions. Whereas, bright white light is the best choice for productive setting at work. There’s also the factor of having the right pendant lamp or lamp shade. Having a uniquely shaped lamp shade can make your interiors look modern and special. Luckily, you don’t always need to buy it from your local light store. It’s possible to make them out of paper! In this post, we have some great lighting that is made of paper. Some are so impressive, you won’t believe they’re made of paper!

1. Paper Mache Pendant Light

With a little ingenuity you can turn newspaper into a one of a kind light fixture. The size and style are completely up to you. Want a huge fixture? Create your pendant shade with an exercise ball. For our fixture, we used a large kids’ play ball. To amp up the glam, we lined the pendant with high-quality gold spray paint. Not only does it add some sophistication, but it also creates a warm glow with the light, perfect for use over a dining space.

2. Wire Flower Lamp

Wires become the frame that shapes these beautiful petals. Have enough of these and you’ll be able to construct a flower of your own! You can use old newspapers for this. Give it a nice blend of colors so they’ll pop! Once you got the flower petals right, you can start gluing them onto the light. USB lighting is used in this craft. 3. Tissue Paper Lights with Plastic Cups

This isn’t exactly purely made out of paper but it’s interesting and worth to be put into the list! It uses a fancy tissue paper to wrap around a plastic cup. These pretty little luminaries are safe enough for kids and teens to use on their own. Even in a camping tent. Because they’re made of plastic, there’s no glass to break. 4. Pixel Paper Light

Turn your home into a modern light exhibit with this simple pixel paper light. It basically involves cutting out the paper to form a pop out. Then, a light source will be placed at the back. When you turn it on, the light goes out from the square holes of the card. This projects a beautiful ray of light.

5. Modern Cocoon Light

The repetitive design using paper folded up is using the various properties of paper/cardboard. However the light will only travel one way and that is through the hole it is guided through. Moreover, I will take inspiration from this piece because of the repetitive design it has.

6. Abracadabox

Each compact, 3D composition is made from layers of hand-cut paper silhouettes, meticulously arranged inside wooden box frames. Softly lit using LED lights, the enchanting scenes glow and cast rich shadows, taking on an extra magical quality. This is the artwork of French artist Aline Maire. Though may not be easy, you can probably create a simpler scene of your own with few layers.

7. Paper Feather Lamp

Upgrade your lamp shade with this simple idea! Firstly, you’ll need a lamp base in the shape of a typical vase. It will make your life easier as you can just glue the feathers onto it. Otherwise, you might have choose a lamp shade with the shape that you want. Try and imagine how it looks like when it’s covered with feathers!

8. Bird Lamp Tube

Similar to Abracadabox, this uses tube of paper instead of a box! Simple sceneries are created with thin layers of paper. Once that is done, a tea light candle is placed inside. This ultimately creates a lovely lampshade that would light up the room with warm lights. It’s a nice piece to be put on beside when you need a little light to accompany you as you sleep.

9. Cocktail Umbrella Pendant

Remember these little umbrellas that we usually use to decorate cocktails and cakes? Yup, now they’re a huge pendant light! It’s easier to form the ideal ball shape if you have a round balloon. Just glue the umbrellas around it and pop it off. To ease your job, you might want to consider cutting the stick of the umbrella to make space for the balloon inside.

10. Fan Lantern

Three pieces of square shaped paper piece gets cut into stripes at different length forming the shape of a circle. Glue them together before slotting in a tea light candle inside. That’s how you’ll get this stunning lantern piece! Now, you can run around in the night with these during mid-autumn festival!

11. Moon Lamp

Paper does wonders in this layered moon lamp! It starts with a small circular strip of paper which is encloses the light bulb. As you move out, larger pieces of circular strip envelopes the light like how an onion does. What’s cool about this light is that you can turn the circular strips to form a round shape. This not only gives off a unique layered lighting, you also get to control the intensity of the light.

Wanted to do something different for Christmas? Why not create a winter scene in a dome! It’s a very unique lighting that would make a wonderful gift as well. Layers of paper are cut into certain shape to form a scenery. A huge cylindrical tube inside is used to hide the tealight candle inside.
