1. Juicier Pineapple
Pineapple doesn’t ripen any further once picked. In case you accidentally chose a not-so-ripe pineapple, there’s a way to make it sweeter! Here’s how:
- Cut the crown of pineapple
- Put it upside down on a plate
- Stick it into the fridge up to 3 days
The idea is to let the sweet sugar juice from the ripe part (the bottom) flow down and spread about the fruit.
2. Ripen Avocado In 10 Minutes
With this trick, you don’t have to worry about buying unripe avocados. Here’s what you need to do:
- Wrap the avocado in aluminium foil
- Bake it in the oven at 200°F for 10 minutes
Wrapping the avocado makes it ripen faster by trapping the ethylene gas in it. Ethylene gas is usually released by fruit to help it ripen. Heating it in the oven helps soften the fruit. However, this technique will change the taste of the avocado slightly because it is cooked. It is recommended to go for this technique in case you need avocado for cooking purposes. Otherwise, it might be better to keep the wrapped avocado and wait till it ripen naturally.
