1. Orange Candle

Orange ain’t just a great citrus fruit packed with vitamin C and fiber. It is also a great fruit that we can make candles with. It’s just a normal wax candle by the way. The whole orange itself becomes the candle. You just need oranges and any type of vegetable oil. The key is to leave the center stem in the fruit intact. That will be used as wick to light it up. 2. Stop Fruit From Browning

Fruits such as apples and pears will turn brown because they contain iron in them. Exposure of iron with air creates iron oxide which is the brown stain that you see. There are several ways to prevent this from happening. One of them is to soak the cut fruit in 1/2 teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of water. Let them be for 10 minutes. Then, drain them and store for later use. Another way is to apply a brush of citrus juice on them. But, this might affect the taste. There are other ways, so, check out the source link below for more options.

3. Checking Avocado Ripeness

One common way to check if the avocado is ripe is to gently squeeze its skin and feel its softness. But, there is a better way without all those squeezing. And that is to remove the cap of the fruit. If it pries off easily, then there is a good chance it is ripe. See the coloration of the fruit revealed under the cap. If it’s yellowish green, then it’s good to eat. If there’s a bit brown in there, then it’s probably over-ripe. Better eat that soon!

4. How To Choose The Sweetest Watermelon?

Watermelon is big! Wouldn’t you feel that all the effort to bring back this huge fruit be wasted if it’s not sweet at all? I’ve been in that state of disappointment and I don’t like it at all. So, here’s some criteria to look for when you’re choosing the best watermelon:

  • First to check is the creamy yellow spot. It’s the spot where the melon sits on the ground. Yellow means it has sat under the sun for quite a while. If you don’t see this spot, chances are the watermelon has been plucked too soon.

  • See if there’s watermelon webbing. This is shows the fruit has been pollinated several times. Hence, it will be sweeter among the rest.

  • Tap for sound. A ripe watermelon should have the sound like you’re knocking on a door or drum. It sounds hollow. It’s kinda hard to understand clearly with words. So, here’s a video:

  • Check the stem. It should be dried or in this case, not there at all. That means it’s ripe and the fruit dropped of by its own.

  • Choose round instead of elongated melons. The round ones tend to be sweeter than the other.

5. Microwave Lemons!

Why? It makes it easier to be squeezed which means you’ll get more juice out of it. Just heat it for about 10 seconds. Let it cool off before juicing it.

6. Upside Down Tomatoes

Tomatoes are one of the fruits that shouldn’t be put in the fridge because that cause more harm than good to them. Did you know that you also should store them stem side down? It prevents moisture from leaving the tomato and also reduces air from entering the tomato. Your tomatoes will be kept fresher that way. An alternate way is to put a tape over the stem scar. It works just the same.
