- 1 small chunk of salmon
- 1 slice of ginger
- 4 broccoli florets
- 1/3 cup of millets
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
Instructions
1. Steam a chunk of salmon with ginger slice on top. The ginger will reduce the fishy smell that can be unpleasing for some.
2. Mash the steamed salmon into smaller pieces.
3. Boil the broccoli until soft. Blend it and put it aside. We will need it later on.
4. Wash the rice with water. Drain the water and repeat a few times until the water gets less cloudy.
5. Cook the rice and millet together. Let the water boil. Then, pour the rice and millet into the pot. Stir constantly so it won’t burn at the bottom of the pot.
5. Add the broccoli in and stir after the rice turns to porridge.
6. Put the salmon pieces in and stir
7. Let the porridge cool before adding olive oil. Olive oil contains monounsaturated fats that is good for the heart and pancreas. However, don’t overfeed your baby with it as it may cause diarrhea.
Some ingredients that you can consider to add more flavor to your baby broccoli porridge are dried scallops and chicken stock. It’s something that you can enjoy as well!
However, these will add to the cost of your dish. That’s the only downside to it. Other than that, it’s going to make your porridge tastes amazing!
Porridge is very versatile. You can add a lot of other nutritious ingredients into it as well such as onion, egg, scallion and sweet potato. Change the combination of ingredients from time to time so your toddler won’t get too bored with the taste.
But, take caution to ensure that the ingredients are soft and in small and safe chunks. If you choose to use dried scallop, be sure to blend it first after cooking. Only then, you can put it back into the porridge.
Try to introduce the ingredients to your baby little by little. This will help you understand your baby if they have allergies towards one specific food such as seafood. This should go to all the foods that you give to your baby.
