Pumpkins are the seasonal produce when it’s fall. The natural orange coloration of the produce blends wonderfully well with the color of autumn. It’s no surprise that there’s tons of activities revolve around pumpkins when it’s this season of the year. Pumpkin carving is one popular activity. Artists world wide would carve their the pumpkin into various characters and effects. They’re also used as table centerpiece because why not? But, today we are going to explore a different facet of what we can do with pumpkin. We’re going to explore the transformation of pumpkins into cute little DIY animals! It’s a fun activity that the kids can look forward to. It’s also a wonderful thing to be put up at the front porch to welcome the guests!

1. Llama Pumpkin

It’s no drama llama. Painted nicely with a plain white skin, the pink flowers on top and bottom adds more beauty to it. On top of it is some white fluff which can be white flowers or any decorative white tissue paper to cover up the stalk of the pumpkin. The ears can be made out of paper cuttings. As for the facial features, don’t forget to draw a cute face with a marker.

2. Tiger

Roar! It’s a tiger! And it’s kinda cute too! There’s various approach to this. You can get sticker paper or paint the pumpkin for the facial features. The ears are made out of papers of two colors – red and black. As for the whiskers, you can use pipe cleaner for that!

3. Circus Lion

If there’s a tiger, it would only make sense to have a lion to complete the collection and it looks so cute! More materials such as felt and a paper bowl is used for the craft. The cuttings of paper are put around the pumpkin as the mane and tail. Nose and ears can either be made out of paper or felt. It’s also a bonus to get dark sticker for the eyes so you can see it reflects the light a little bit.

4. Bare Bears

Cartoon comes into real life pumpkins! The bare bears are not an unfamiliar sight among kids these days. Here’s one with all three of the stacked up like a pole! It’s a show of painting skill for these bears. But, given how simple the cartoon characters are, it poses minimal difficulty. So, any kids can do it too! For the stacking, it might be necessary to get a pole or a beam for the support. Some drilling might be needed and hence, adult supervision is required! But, I wouldn’t say it would look bad if you just lay all three on the ground. The would not look any less fabulous than being stacked together!

5. Dog

If you have a dog, it’s always a great idea to feature it in the form of a pumpkin! Here’s one simple example of a dog that is manifested into a pumpkin with simple painting and creative use of felt and paper.

Sometimes, the key to the perfect dog pumpkin is by choosing the right shape. This Scooby Doo pumpkin looks so real to the cartoon character itself!

6. Raccoon 

Here’s another cute animal character that deserves some attention! These garbage trashing pandas are getting more popular on the Internet with its funny acts! This is a cute and creative pumpkin raccoon made with a simple combination of felt and paper as well. It truly pose not much difficulty in making this. Perhaps it would be a great idea to introduce the painting skill to the young ones as well considering that you just need to paint the whole pumpkin and the tail.

7. Chicken

This is a huge chicken! It’s made out of two pumpkins. One smaller on top as the head and the other larger one as the body. A few unique materials are used in this craft – colored fluff for the feathers and that mohawk, googly eyes and a colored tissue core as its beak. It’s definitely interesting to use different kind of materials. Perhaps you could use it for other animal crafts too. For example, instead of using paper strips for the lion’s mane, it would be awesome to use colored fluffs instead. That’s something soft on the pumpkin that would invite a lot of pats!

8. Fox

We’re getting larger and larger with these animal pumpkin craft ideas! Here’s one huge fox made out of two pumpkins! You will need to do some face painting for the pumpkin. As for the tail, it might be a bit difficult to find the material that is bushy and looks like a fox tail. It might be just fine if we settle it with printed version of it. But hey, you might have better luck finding that nice tail!

9. Deer

A deer with a flower crown? That’s GORGEOUS! Prop antler is required for the magnificent effect of a deer appearance. The face can be painted. Be sure to roughly sketch out the look on the skin before painting it! Another part that we would need a bit more effort on is the crown. You can attach the ears onto it along with other flowers and ribbons.

There’s really a lot of facial features you could go for. This pumpkin got a metallic spray all around the pumpkin giving that beautiful high end glow. Paint the rest of the eyes, nose and whatnot with paint. You can always use felt for the ear. The horns however require some glue.

You can use fake flowers or real succulents for the crown. It’s really up to your creativity! Having a more variety of material choice would actually gives a more sense of freshness.

Sometimes, you just want to go big! That’s when you incorporate two pumpkins together. Some painting maybe required to create the overall look of the deer unless you want to go with the cut and paste method with colored papers.

10. Bird

That’s an iconic character! Fans of Angry Birds would be able to recognize this … well, angry bird from the popular game! It’s all about painting it up!

Birds of the same  feather flock together! Or should I say, same featherless? Three layers of felt form the eye well. The first too seems fine but the one at the back maybe onto something!

11. Owl

It’s a pumpkin wearing a full body felt owl mask! Play around with the stacked layers of felt to create something amazing!

You can create almost every animal with pumpkin! Here’s a pig version of it!

Go extra mile with the texture. The patterned fabric forms beautiful ears for these piggies. Not forgetting to mention the curvy tail made out of pipe cleaners! That’s plus points to style!

13. Cow

Cows too get a piece of the pumpkin show! It’s fascinating to see how the glass-shaped white part of this cow gives the illusion as if the snout is pointing out. But in fact, it’s just flat!

14. Bee

Awww… this cute bee is staring into my soul! The entire pumpkin is colored with sharp yellow. The reflection of it is just what to expect of the exoskeleton of a bee!

15. Goldfish

Who would knew that you could feature fish out of a pumpkin! This fish its entire feature made out of cupcake wrappers! Plus, the default orange color of the pumpkin is just the perfect matching color that a goldfish would have. That’s a fine craft to try if you’re looking for a no-point job!

17. Pumpkin of Cats

The more the merrier! These cozy kittens makes such nice company as they sit on the front porch or dining table! The exterior decor of washi tape is truly a creative point in this craft! The little kitty pumpkins too make such fun part to make out of the overall craft. You can make it just enough or more than enough to create the overflow effect.
